INTRODUCTION
The burgeoning global interconnectedness and the increasing demand for English as a lingua franca have irrevocably cemented its position as a cornerstone of international communication, education, and commerce. Within this dynamic landscape, the pedagogical efficacy of English Language Teaching (ELT) materials holds paramount importance, directly influencing learners' proficiency and communicative competence. Textbooks, as the primary conduit for curriculum delivery in many educational contexts, play a crucial role in shaping the learning experience. The "New Language Leader" series, a prominent publication in the ELT sphere, has garnered considerable attention and widespread adoption in various institutions worldwide, including those dedicated to English language instruction for Uzbek speakers. Its continued use necessitates a rigorous and timely evaluation to ascertain its suitability, pedagogical soundness, and alignment with contemporary ELT methodologies and learner needs. This review contributes to the ongoing discourse surrounding ELT material evaluation, providing insights into the strengths and weaknesses of a widely utilized resource and, by extension, informing future material development and selection processes. The relevance of this topic is further underscored by the rapid evolution of digital learning environments and the increasing emphasis on communicative approaches, intercultural competence, and authentic language use, all of which demand ELT materials that are not only up-to-date but also adaptable and learner-centered.
