INTRODUCTION
In Uzbekistan, the number of scientific publications in English indexed in international databases increased by an impressive 47% between 2020 and 2023 [1]. However, a significant portion, approximately 65%, of these publications still struggle with the effective construction of introductory arguments, leading to lower citation rates and impact scores when compared to global benchmarks [2]. Globally, the market for academic publishing services, including editing and proofreading, was valued at $3.2 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach $5.1 billion by 2028, reflecting the critical importance of high-quality academic writing in the dissemination of research [3]. Unaddressed, these shortcomings hinder the international visibility of valuable research conducted in Uzbekistan and impede the development of a competitive national academic landscape. International scholarship has extensively explored the dynamics of effective argumentation and rhetorical strategies in academic introductions. John Swales (1990) pioneered the CARS (Create A Research Space) model, demonstrating how effective introductions establish territory, identify a niche, and occupy that niche [4]. Helen Sword (2012) in "Stylish Academic Writing" emphasized the importance of engaging prose and narrative structure in introductions to capture reader attention and convey authority [5]. Ken Hyland (2004) analyzed the role of metadiscourse markers in signaling authorial stance and guiding readers through an argument [6]. Additionally, Robert G. Kaplan (2007) explored the cultural and linguistic variations in academic writing conventions, highlighting how rhetorical patterns differ across languages and academic traditions [7]. Susan Peck MacDonald (1994) delved into the historical evolution of academic genres and the persistent expectations for clear, persuasive introductory sections [8].
Within the Uzbekistan academic context, a growing body of research has begun to address challenges in English academic writing. M.T. Umarkhodjayeva (2021) conducted a corpus linguistic analysis of Uzbek scholars' introductions, identifying common rhetorical shortcomings such as underdeveloped problem statements and weak thesis d
